This one had layers to it. What looked like a siding job on the outside turned into a full rot excavation once we started pulling boards. The deck ledger, the rim boards, the framing underneath the stair skirts - all of it had been quietly rotting for years. That's the thing about wood rot in Central Oregon. The exterior can still look painted and intact while the structure behind it is falling apart.
We pulled the old siding off in sections and found the damage ran further than the homeowner knew. Framing exposed. Old material crumbling. We documented everything as we went and replaced what needed to go - not just what was easy to reach. The crew used an air compressor and pneumatic nailer to set the new fiber cement boards tight and level, with proper house wrap and flashing behind it. Every window got masked with 3M masking film to protect the glass during install.
The stair enclosure under the deck was one of the worst spots. The kick boards at the base of the stairs had completely failed - rotted through and open to the outside. We rebuilt the enclosure from the framing out, matched the existing siding profile, and closed it back up. Same story on the garage side. The bottom courses near the grade line had moisture damage that went undetected until the boards started pulling away on their own.
What we ended up with is a house that's sealed up correctly. New fiber cement siding matched to the existing color and profile, fresh flashing at all the critical transitions, and all the rot cut out and replaced with solid material. The owner doesn't have to wonder what's happening behind the walls anymore. That peace of mind is a big part of what we deliver on every job.
We run a crew of five - myself included - and we do this work ourselves. Licensed, bonded, and insured. We serve La Pine, Sunriver, Bend, Sisters, Redmond, Madras, Terrebonne, and everywhere in between. If your siding is showing cracks, bubbling paint, or soft spots near the grade line, that's usually the first sign something bigger is going on underneath.
