Cedar is one of the trickier surfaces to paint well. It absorbs product unevenly, old paint fails faster on it than most other materials, and if you skip the prep work, you end up with peeling and bubbling within a couple of years. That's exactly the situation we were dealing with on this La Pine home - failing paint that needed to come off before anything new could go on.

We started by scraping and sanding down all the problem areas. That part isn't glamorous, but it's what determines how long the new paint actually lasts. Once the surface was clean and stable, we primed everything to give the topcoats a solid base to grip. No shortcuts there.

For the cedar siding itself, we back rolled the first coat by hand, then sprayed the second. Back rolling forces paint into the wood grain and seals it properly - spraying alone on cedar tends to leave gaps and thin spots you won't notice until the paint starts failing again. The combination of both methods is just the right way to do it on a surface like this.

The color choice kept everything cohesive - one clean tone across the body, trim, and accents. The house has a natural rustic character that fits right into the La Pine landscape, and the finish complements that without fighting it. Board and batten siding with a consistent color across all the details reads sharp and intentional from every angle.
